It's where it all began Lesley had the idea back in 1996 to open a tack shop but found that there was also a need for a pet shop in Birkenshaw so Claws'n'Paws incorporating Hooves Equestrian opened in September 1996.

 

Selling foods, bedding and accessories for a variety of Pets, Claws'n'Paws soon established itself within the area as the place to go for Pet foods and accessories and advice.

 

As the Pet business grew so did the Equestrian section from selling a few brushes and headcollars to adding Rider clothing and Footwear the building rapidly became too small for the growth so much so that larger premises were found and the name was changed, to relate the growth of the Equestrian business,to Hooves Equestrian incorporating Claws'n'Paws and Opened by top Show Jumper Geoff Billingtonand his Horse "It's Otto" in September 2001.
